He Ye, a three-year-old panda previously identified as a boy, is now proven to be a girl.  

三岁的熊猫“和叶”之前被大家认为是男孩，现在被证实是女孩。



He Ye (和叶) and her twin sister, He Hua (和花), were born on July 4th, 2020. According to Chinese panda specialists, the slow development of a giant panda's genitalia means that its gender cannot be determined with any degree of certainty until it reaches the age of three. Testing a panda's DNA is the most accurate method for identifying its gender.

和叶和她的双胞胎妹妹和花出生于2020年7月4日。据中国大熊猫专家介绍，大熊猫生殖器发育缓慢，这意味着在大熊猫长到三岁之前，无法明确其性别。

He Ye was mistaken for a male because of her large size and mischievousness. She constantly teases and "bullies" her sister, He Hua, an elegant "lady panda" with millions of followers in China.

和叶因体型大，调皮，被误认为是雄性。她经常戏弄和欺负她的姐姐，和花，一个在中国拥有数百万粉丝的优雅的熊猫女士。

This isn't the first time scientists have misidentified pandas' gender. Their father MeiLan born in Zoo Atlanta was once misidentified as female too!

这并不是科学家第一次错误地识别大熊猫的性别。它们的出生在亚特兰大动物园的父亲美兰，也曾被误认为是雌性。
